Handwoven by Diné (Navajo) weaver Virginia Tracy of Ganado, Arizona, this contemporary freestyle Navajo rug reflects both personal storytelling and traditional weaving practice, woven from hand-spun Navajo Churro wool sourced from Hubbell Trading Post and family flocks, with pink tones created using cochineal dye. At the center of the weaving, Virginia includes the Spider Woman cross, a symbol representing Spider Woman, the Navajo deity who taught the Navajo people how to weave.

Virginia Tracy completes every step of the weaving process by hand—washing, carding, spinning, dyeing, and weaving—ensuring that each rug reflects both technical skill and personal connection to the materials. Though she now lives in Texas, she regularly returns home to gather wool and materials, maintaining her connection to Navajo land, family, and tradition. The Spider Woman cross at the center of her rugs represents the origin of Navajo weaving and the continuation of that knowledge through each new weaving.
